How do I quote on this site?
by Nevuela inevery time i've asked this in an existing thread, i've never gotten an answer, so forgive me for starting a new thread in order to ask again.
i simply cannot figure out how to quote someone with the standard yellow box.
i can copy/paste the quote, sure, but nothing i do makes it appear in a yellow box like everyone else.

silly observations from that '1975' video...
by undercover inokay, so everyone is bent out of shape about how the wts is re-writing their history on their past failed predictions (1975).
other threads deal in all the evidence to tear apart their shameless propaganda, so i won't dwell on that here.. but, what i will do is list a couple of observations, silly as they are, that aren't about the propaganda so much as it is about the set design, and costume design.
feel free to add to the list.. early scene where the wife is dying.

The wife was not dead. Pay attention at how she opens her eyes when the face of hubby gets to close to her face. Almost like saying: "what the f*** are you doing?"

2017 Convention Video To Be Shown Regarding The 1975 Failure
by pale.emperor inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go3arnnsfkk&feature=youtu.be.
no mention whatsoever that it was watchtower themselves that strongly hinted towards this date.
instead they blame those who "put their trust in a date, not jehovah".. let's recap... .

The listener: "The acting is stiff or stilted or something like that. It doesn't sound or look natural"
What do you expect when the actors are robots? They are pre-programmed robots in their own "normal life".

Reaction of Governing Body Belies More than their Accusation
by carefullyread ina disfellowshiped brother wrote a letter of disquisition to the governing body of wbts a little while ago.
it was not in any way nasty, derogatory, rude, blasphemous, or with profanity but it was civil, truthful, & very informative that some have described as extremely truthful to enlightening, an ebullient disclosure.
i got to see some paraphrases extracted from it that have been circulating quietly or rather secretly passed around & i agree with the latter description.. the governing body was greatly perturbed, alarmed, to confused with this letter particularly as they became aware several of the congregation were also sent copies which some of the local congregational elders raised controversial questions about but mainly was dismissed by them without reading, to scoffing & ridicule but some also saw something more truthful to concern them.

More evidence and plain English please. I have a dictionary and a Thesaurus too, but my memory suffices in ordinary Internet conversations. Pompous language always detracts from the message.
I forgot, welcome!!!

Lawsuit Settlement Amounts
by Richard Oliver ini have a legitimate question and i am not trying to start a fight.
i keep reading that there were 6 child abuse lawsuits that settled for 13 million dollars.
how do people like barbara anderson or jwsurvey or jwfacts come up with this number?

Richard Oliver: "Doctrine is up to interpretation"
Yes an interpretation that has robbed many people of their money, their lives, their time. An interpretation that has led to the abuse of children all over the world, but I digressed... what matter is the accuracy of the settlement victims got. Who cares about the causes of the settlement, and the damage inflicted to the victims. Right Richard?

The high cost of medical care correlates with the big awards in civil courts related to medical malpractice and drugs that produced more problems than solutions. Add to that the retirement of the biggest generation, the baby boomers. We Americans are quite ready to demand millions for our suffering, while pretending not to know that it is our neighbor and family members who ultimately will pay for those millions awarded in the U.S. courts. Politicians can not fix the high cost of healthcare and they know it, but found it as an opportunity to score political points by ranting about the other party ill advised policies.

My son is traveling this summer to South Korea with a group of other American high schoolers. It would be devastating to my son if the trip is cancelled. Two years ago, the same trip was scheduled, but cancelled because of the MERS virus in 2015. This is his last chance to make it to South Korea under this program because he will be moving on to university. Our city's (Burbank, CA) cultural exchange program never had a cancelled trip in 30 years and now my son may get two cancelled trips, back to back. What are the odds.
But I rather have it cancelled if it's dangerous.

Scientism - Nothing But a Childish Insult?
by cofty init is not uncommon for theists to accuse rational people on this forum of "scientism".. in my opinion it is nothing but a cheap shot from those who know they lack evidence for their beliefs.
if something like "scientism" actually does exist then i have never encountered it.. here is part of an exchange from another thread - i have brought it here as it was off-topic.... scientism = claim of scientific method being universal and the only valid method of knowledge.
followers of scientism always demand scientific evidence to anything.

John Mann and other "spiritual" nuts
"Scientism", as you call it has provided you with the ability to type messages and have anyone with internet access anywhere in the world to read it. Books can be written about all the things "scientism" makes possible for everyone to benefit from, including religious nuts. Give me something from religion that can be used as the basis to improve the material world.
Religion can only improve the life of those who prefer fantasy over reality. I am quite Ok with that. I just wouldn't rely on those people to bring innovation to improve our lives, even keep us alive. They provide HOPE, a meaningless word in a world that requires real solutions.
